Press Release Tembilahan Inflation Starts in 2024 using New Base Year (2022=100)

Thursday, February 1, 2024 The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of Indragiri Hilir Regency held the first inflation press release for January 2024. Please note that the use of the new base year, namely 2022 = 100, began to be applied as of January 2024. The press release which was delivered directly by the Head of BPS Indragiri Hilir Regency was enthusiastically attended by Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD). In the press release, it was stated that rice is the commodity that has the largest share of year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation in Tembilahan, while broiler chicken meat is the commodity that has the largest share of month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation. Several vegetable commodities such as tomatoes, white cabbage, to red chilies and travel fares also have a significant share in m-to-m inflation. This is in line with the flooding phenomenon at several points that disrupted access to the distribution of these commodities to Tembilahan, resulting in price increases. In addition, the perishable nature of vegetables also affected the phenomenon of price increases for some of these commodities. The impact of the 10% increase in cigarette excise policy by the Ministry of Finance also affected the y-on-y share of Machine Clove Cigarettes (SKM). At the end of the event, several OPD representatives seriously responded and conveyed various ideas related to steps that have been taken or will be taken related to inflation control in Tembilahan in the future.
